Please ensure to follow the instructions of aftercare to prevent poor healing or complications.
Do not twist your piercing. Do not touch your piercing other than to clean it. This can cause an immune response and fluid filled bumps to form. Bumps can only be gotten rid of with a daily warm compress over the course of multiple weeks so it is important to follow this instruction. The less touching the more likely your body is to accept the piercing. Remember that we are introducing a foreign object to the body, very much like a splinter. The body will respond with redness, swelling and such. This is normal. For cartilage piercings this response can last many months. Again, this is normal for some. For some, they will heal faster.
We do not upsell or stock cleaning solutions as we know that salt water is the very best thing to use for your new piercings.
You should downsize your piercing as soon as the skin is healed enough to do so. This prevents it from moving around too much and causing irritation. Skin should be healed enough to downsize approximately:
Lobes: after 6-8 weeks
Cartilage: after 6-8 weeks
Cheek/navel: after 8-12 weeks
Eyebrow: after 8-12 months
Nose: 6 months after
Tongue: after 2-4 week
Lip: after 3-6 weeks
(PIERCINGS SHOULD NOT BE LEFT OUT OVERNIGHT FOR THE FIRST YEAR AT LEAST. YOUNG PIERCINGS WILL HEAL VERY QUICKLY AND REQUIRE A REPIERCE.)
If you are experiencing issues with your piercing after you thought it had healed, the most likely issue is that your fitting is too big. Long fittings move around and cause irritation which in turn can cause redness, overproduction of healing fluid and even storage bumps forming for that healing fluid.
Downsizing is an important part of the healing process.
IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT YOUR PIERCING, PLEASE GIVE US A CALL. WE WOULD MUCH RATHER YOU CALL US NOW THAN HAVE TO COME BACK FOR A REPIERCE LATER. OUR REPUTATION IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US. WE WANT OUR PIERCINGS TO STAND OUT FOR THE RIGHT REASONS.
Whenever you touch your new piercing it sends a signal to your brain that there is a foreign object present. The bodys' natural response to a foreign object is to send healing fluid to the area and try to reject it from the body. If the piercing is left alone the body will eventually accept it.
If however the piercing has been bumped, knocked, overcleaned, twiddled with etc, the fluid will build up and eventually create a storage spot.
These bumps/spots cannot be gotten rid of by popping. In fact popping only causes more irritation and more fluid to build up.
To prevent, try to only touch your piercings for the cleaning routine recommended.
To treat: again, as little touching as possible and apply a very warm compress to the area once a day. try to time this with your cleaning to avoid extra activity. DO NOT start a vigorous cleaning routine. Instead clean gently only once a day and apply the warm compress afterwards.
Lumps can take months to reduce. Removing your piercing unfortunately will not remove the bump it just reduces irritation. Removal is at your own discretion. we cannot repierce an irritated area so you will need to be fully healed before any repierce can take place.
